The Vipers set the ball rolling after only 33 seconds, when Antony Vickers slotted home. Tom Sweet didn’t leave it too long before equalising though, 14 seconds to be precise. The game continued to swing from end to end and both sets of defense looked pretty solid, the Vipers scored again at 4:46 to make the surprisingly large crowd happy. Though again, it didn’t take Sweet long to get the Squeelers level, this time the Vipers led for 46 seconds. Whilst the Vipers dried up for the rest of the period, the Squeelers relentless front line continued as normal, scoring another couple (Sutcliffe @ 9:49 & Sweet, Hattrick Goal @ 11:12) to end the Period 4-2 in favour of the Squeelers.

The second period continued as it ended for the Squeelers, Simon Law (22:01) getting his name on the scoresheet by scoring a beautiful tip in off a Craig Day shot, and then scoring again four minutes later at 26:07. Sweet scored another couple towards the end of the second, bringing his tally to five and making the score and impressive 8-2.

Period three started with the Vipers getting one back (40:50), this shook the Squeelers and after words from the Captain, the Squeelers pulled it held on, scoring a further three goals in the last 5 minutes. (Chris Graham @ 55:09, Pat Sutcliffe @ 56:06, Craig Day @ 59:32)

It’s a home game, at Ice Sheffield.

The Squeelers took the lead 3 minutes in with a typical first line strike from Sweet (assisted: Nicholson and West). The game continued going end to end and both sets of defense looked pretty solid, the game looked open and as though it could go either way. At 14:08, the Vipers equalised with a goal from Rob Hilton, and at 1-1 it looked as though that might be it for the period. However at 18:22 the Squeelers forced a turnover in the Vipers zone and Simon Law fed Mike Brook for the go ahead goal.

The second period continued like much of the first, end to end stuff with solid defense. A string of penalties against the Vipers led to nothing for the Squeelers and it was a penalty against the team in red that saw Daz Allott of the Vipers score the equalising goal at 34:56 (PP). However within less than 2 minutes the Squeelers had netted again, with Nicholson scoring what turned out to be the game winner at 36:16 (assisted: Sweet). The second period played out and the Squeelers headed into the third a goal up.

Period three began with pace from the Squeelers, having been told another early goal should probably finish the tiring Vipers off, it took just over a minute for the continuous pressure to pay as Sweet made a great move in the Vipers zone and let one fly to put the Squeelers up 4-2 (assisted: R. Day). Despite the Squeelers taken a rather large handful of penalties in the third the Vipers were unable to beat the wall that Ledger had in place and save after save denied the Vipers. At 53:17 Sweet (assisted: West) netted his third and pretty much sealed the deal, almost… A late burst from Nicholson saw him break through the depleted Vipers defense and finish off a great solo run, going top shelf and claiming the water bottle!
